Safeguarding and Behaviour

Safeguarding

St Peter's School is committed to helping to keep all children safe by providing a safe environment for children to learn and identifying children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. Appropriate action is taken with the aim of making sure that all children are kept safe both at home and at school.

 

The school expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff, governors and volunteers have an enhanced DBS check and staff appointments are only made following rigorous safe recruitment practices. Staff agree to a code of conduct which is reviewed and shared each year. CPOMS is used by all staff to log safeguarding incidents and behaviour incidents.

Childline will be open each morning at 9am and you’ll be able to call and use 1-2-1 chats from then. Our night service is open as normal, but please be aware that it might take longer than usual to get through to a counsellor. Calling Childline on 0800 1111 is the fastest way to get through to us.

Behaviour

At St Peter's, we believe behaviour is a way of communicating. We focus on a simple motto of 3 requests to support expected behaviours: Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. We use Zones of Regulation to support pupils in being able to express their emotions competently and use our Behaviour for Learning Policy to maintain high standards of behaviour. We expect parents to support us in this and work in partnership to achieve good behaviour outcomes for all. Our school is a calm, safe and happy place to learn. 

Pupils’ care and respect for each other are clear; teasing and unkindness are not tolerated here
